Director R&D at In2Care BV

Marit Farenhorst (born 1983) is a biologist with a PhD in Medical Entomology from Wageningen University, specializing in biological mosquito control and product development.14 She is currently the Director of Research and Development at In2Care BV, a company she co-founded in 2011.25

As a medical entomologist, Farenhorst conducted pioneering research on using entomopathogenic fungi against insecticide-resistant mosquito vectors in Kenya, South Africa, and Benin, resulting in several academic publications, including one in PNAS.1 She has managed large multinational research projects and leads In2Care's mosquito control innovations.14

Recently, in January 2025, Farenhorst joined the Envu family to drive nature-positive solutions for mosquito and pest control globally.3 This move demonstrates her continued commitment to developing sustainable and innovative approaches to vector control.

Throughout her career, Farenhorst has been dedicated to creating scientifically sound products to combat disease-transmitting insects, with a focus on biological and affordable solutions for malaria, Dengue, West Nile Virus, and Chikungunya.6 Her work at In2Care has led to the development of products like the In2Care Mosquito Station and In2Care EaveTubes, which aim to provide effective and environmentally friendly vector control solutions.7
