I remember my first job as an "SDR" before it was called that, we'd make cold calls and cold emails by personalising based on content that was in industry magazines (Our SDR budget being a bunch of trade mags!)
Then we'd mention that in the first line of the email or when the prospect answered the phone not knowing that was kind of ahead of its time (or at least for outbound, as I'm sure people were doing this with snail mail).
Essentially we were just playing to a core human emotion, everyone wants to be recognised and valued for the work they do. Having people you've never met reach out to you and acknowledge that recognition must give you a self esteem boost too!
What are B2B marketers doing today in B2B to get buyers attention that we'd consider "Ahead of its time" in 10 years from now?
