Highlights
I PUBLISHED A CHILDREN'S BOOK! 💗 When I left my corporate job after 9 years with a company I loved very much, I have to admit, I felt a bit lost and I truthfully had no idea what I was going to do next. The first thing I did was relax. After that, I gave into my OCD and started organizing my house. And then I pulled out my bucket list and decided to cross a big one off my list. In December 2020, my son, Palmer, was born. It was the height of the pandemic, political insanity and massive social divisiveness. Concerned about the world he would grow up in, I realized that as parents, it is our responsibility to sow seeds of positivity and equip our children with the tools to become compassionate and empathetic humans. Whoever my son grows up to be, I just want him to be a kind and authentically happy person. Drawing on my lifelong passion for writing and storytelling, I started to tell Palmer stories, each carrying a positive lesson, such as the importance of kindness. Whenever I told a really great story, I would jot down a few notes in my phone. Those notes are what I pulled from to bring this book to life. My own childhood was unique, having grown up in a blended family where two families merged after years of growing up separately. We had diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and upbringings. My mom and stepdad couldn't have been more different, with opposing religious views, divergent political perspectives, and polar opposite childhoods. Yet, almost three decades later, their bond endures through love. My parents taught us the value of open-mindedness towards different viewpoints, the appreciation of diverse beliefs, and the acceptance and love for others, no matter how different they may be. Although being in a blended family was not without its challenges, I cherish the lessons we learned along the way. My mom and stepdad were the inspiration for the characters in my first book. The culinary octopus and rockstar turtle, though different creatures, epitomize acceptance and kindness as they form a bond and set out on a mission to show kindness to a mistake-prone seahorse. Now that my husband and I have built our own family, we have an adage in our house that goes “be good, but be yourself” and my son says to “be awesome!” My intention is to continue writing stories that inspire children to be good humans, be true to themselves and to always “BE AWESOME!” 🛍 Available 9/12 on Amazon 🛒 , Barnes & Noble 📚 and Target! 🎯 All shopping links are accessible via my website: https://www.marlainam.com/ P.S. while working on publishing this book, I also got to work on starting my own consultancy and it has completely exceeded my expectations. I truly love what I do. I think the moral of this story is that sometimes taking a step back gives you the clarity to see the bigger picture so you can walk confidently into the next chapter. I feel so much gratitude. 🙏 https://lnkd.in/en-MYfyX
I'm so excited to finally share what I've been up to these last few months! Introducing Convertable Marketing - a retail marketing consultancy in the beauty & wellness space. Our services include digital merchandising, retail paid media support, content strategy, new launch planning, retail meeting prep, distribution strategy and business development. Our mission is to maximize your brand's potential through custom-tailored retail marketing solutions that drive brand awareness and grow sales. Thank you to so many badass women that I admire who took the time to mentor, guide, encourage, listen, give feedback and advocate for me. I was in awe of how many women I reached out to for advice that immediately offered their time and support. SO MANY of you encouraged me, offered resources, made introductions, edited countless decks and gave me impactful feedback. I owe a big shoutout to Paula Floyd who has been the ultimate mentor and cheered me on every time I went "what the f*ck am I doing?" And no matter where I go or what I do, I always owe a special thank you to the best boss I ever had, Jennifer Whipple, who coached me during my 9 years with Benefit Cosmetics. She is the definition of "boss babe" and always an inspiration. Thank you to my first client for trusting me: Short & Suite - Reidie MacDonald. Thank you to Brianna George for helping me bring my brand vision to life with gorgeous branding and website support. The word "convert" means a lot to us marketers, but I love what it means in real world context too. It means to adapt, transform and turn opportunities into wins. Cheers to a new chapter full of opportunities and positive transformations! I'm so excited to build, evolve and grow.
Give me a shout - I'd love to hear from you!
