Matthew Filipovich

Accelerated Master's Student in Neuromorphic Photonics and Machine Learning - Vector Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence Recipient 2020-21

Matthew Filipovich is an aspiring researcher with a focus on machine learning and applied physics, currently pursuing a Master of Applied Science in Neuromorphic Photonics at Queen's University.

His research involves the development of innovative neural network computing architectures using photonic integrated circuits, as showcased at the 2020 IEEE Photonics Conference.

Aside from his primary research, Matthew has broad interests in fields like quantum computing, machine learning ethics, and autonomous vehicles.

In his undergraduate years, he led the Queen's Hyperloop Design Team as the Technical Captain, overseeing the design and production of a hyperloop pod that competed internationally at the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition.

With a background in Engineering Physics, Matthew thrives in multidisciplinary team environments and is driven by a passion for scientific discovery and making positive impacts through research.
