Matti Clements is a seasoned professional who, in 2023, became the Director of the Australian Institute of Sport, marking the first female to hold this prestigious position.

With over two decades of experience in elite and professional sports, Matti specializes in areas of wellbeing, people management, and high-performance strategies.

Prior to her current role, she led the People Development and Well-being department at AIS, focusing on national strategies for coach development, workforce development, and athlete wellbeing and engagement.

Matti, a qualified psychologist, has played a pivotal role in designing and managing national programs aimed at enhancing wellbeing, professional development, and support systems in high-performance sporting organizations.

Her extensive professional background includes working with various elite sporting bodies such as AFL Clubs, Cricket Australia, Golf Australia, Netball Australia, Tennis Australia, AFL, and the Australian Cricketers Association.

She holds an Executive MBA from Melbourne Business School and has a strong educational foundation from Monash University.

Some of her notable past roles include Executive General Manager AIS Performance, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Director Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement, and Senior Psychologist at the Australian Institute of Sport, among others.

Matti has also contributed her expertise to organizations like St Kilda Football Club, AFL Players Association, South Australia Sports Institute, and Mental Edge Consulting.
