Matti Clements is a seasoned professional who, in 2023, became the Director of the Australian Institute of Sport, marking the first female to hold this prestigious position.

Prior to her current role, she led the People Development and Well-being department at AIS, focusing on national strategies for coach development, workforce development, and athlete wellbeing and engagement.
Matti, a qualified psychologist, has played a pivotal role in designing and managing national programs aimed at enhancing wellbeing, professional development, and support systems in high-performance sporting organizations.
Her extensive professional background includes working with various elite sporting bodies such as AFL Clubs, Cricket Australia, Golf Australia, Netball Australia, Tennis Australia, AFL, and the Australian Cricketers Association.
She holds an Executive MBA from Melbourne Business School and has a strong educational foundation from Monash University.
Some of her notable past roles include Executive General Manager AIS Performance, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Director Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement, and Senior Psychologist at the Australian Institute of Sport, among others.

As we move into the second week of the Paralympic Games, it’s been absolutely incredible to see our continued Aussie success.
We’ve just enjoyed our biggest medal haul in a day at the Paras in Paris, winning 10 medals across para swimming, para rowing, para cycling, and para athletics, fantastic work from all the athletes, coaches, and HPDs involved to make this happen. A special shout out to Thrive with Pride ambassador Nikki Ayers who took home the gold medal with Jed Altschwager in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls – well done Nikki and Jed!
I’m looking forward to catching more Aussies in action at the Para Games before everything wraps up for another four years on Sunday. We’re already lined up for some super medal events in para triathlon, the wheelchair rugby bronze medal match, boccia, and para powerlifting.

I’m incredibly pleased to announce our Future Green and Gold – Australia’s Greatest ever Olympic and Paralympic Talent Search has gone live, with our system partners receiving a toolkit to promote the talent search through their sporting communities. In the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the ASC and AIS are working with the sporting sector to uncover future Green and Gold talent aged 13 and above who aren’t already in an HP pathway, as well as identify existing athletes who may be able to transfer their skills to different sports to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
