Highlights
What do we do with our anger?
And what else could we do with it?
This is a very complex and delicate question, and I never imagined discussing it in the context of the Olympics games, and a brand commercial.
On July 19th Nike published their official Campaign called “winning isn’t for everyone” and it’s… polarizing. Amongst many other things.
We discussed it with Deh Bastos — a friend, ally and expert in the fields of advertisement, racial and social inclusion and the power of narrative.

6 months ago, I made a bet.
I bet that our nervous systems and perspectives on power were the # 1 limitation in effective activism, entrepreneurship, and impact investment.
I bet that when we say "that's wrong," what we mean is "hurtful."
I bet that we care about things that hurt because we are hurting, which means we're in "reactive states", not in creative ones. Which tends to sabotage our intentions and desires to improve things.
And I bet that we could create a program around this, to explore and reprogram our perspectives on #Power, #Purpose, and #Pain.
1 months later, Sigma Squared Society called the shotgun to host a first-ever private program with their Fellows. Julia Zhou thank you again for your trust and encouragement.
And yet, I felt we could do better.
I wanted less insights, more practice. Less learning, more techniques adapted to each participant's profile. No slides, just tools anyone could sketch and re-use, anywhere.
I went back to my journals and years of training.
And The Ecology of Power was born.
This week we wrapped up the first edition of this 10-week cohort program, and I can say: I won my bet.
I saw the kind of transformation that happens when we step back from information, data and frameworks and we first reclaim the somatic and cognitive dimension of what are (actually) here to do. And once you see something, you can't un-see it.
To me, this means 3 things:
- There's so much more we need to re-evaluate regarding our desire to "make things change"
- I can't wait to share this program's case studies and key insights
- I am ready to double down on this.
Which also means: I'll be running another cohort this coming Fall.
We start on September 10th The Deadline to apply is August 7th
In perfect Olympics-season fashion, I feel I'm reaching a finish line just to start another loop. But what a privilege it is to do work we believe in and to prepare to go offline for a few weeks, knowing that another cycle awaits us on the other side.
A huge thank you to the participants for trusting me with their challenges and journeys, and to my mentors and allies who held my ground as I was bringing this program to life. Ready for round 2 (and more).
