Melissa Loughnan is a versatile professional with a strong background in the art world. She is the founding director of Utopian Slumps, an art gallery in Melbourne, Australia, which transitioned into an art consulting agency post-2014.

Melissa's gallery, Utopian Slumps, earned critical acclaim during its eight years of operation, representing a diverse group of emerging Australian and New Zealand artists specializing in various art forms.

With a Bachelor of Creative Arts, a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (Art History), and a Master of Art Curatorship from the University of Melbourne, Melissa has a solid educational foundation in the arts.

Throughout her career, Melissa has held positions like Exhibition Coordinator at Melbourne Museum and Programme Manager at the Australian Commercial Galleries Association, Federation Square. She is also a seasoned writer, with publications in various art magazines and a book titled 'Australiana to Zeitgeist: An A to Z of new Australian Contemporary Art'.

Melissa actively contributes to the art community through guest lectures, panel discussions, and memberships in selection and judging panels. She currently serves as Co-chair of the West Space board and Chair of its Marketing and Development Committee.
