Michael Kennedy

Director and Research Professor, Science in Society, Northwestern University

Dr. Michael Kennedy is a distinguished professional with an extensive background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and chemistry.

He pursued his academic journey by obtaining a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.

Dr. Kennedy has a rich history of involvement in various organizations, having served as the Founding Director of Science and Society, a center dedicated to equity-focused STEM Education at Northwestern University.

He also contributed significantly as a Member of the Teacher Advisory Council (TAC) within the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

In addition, his experience includes roles such as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Dean at Feinberg School of Medicine, Director of Educational and Research Programs, Research Assistant Professor, and Associate Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at Northwestern University.

With a background as a Scientific Graphic Editor at Encyclopaedia Britannica and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Northwestern University, Dr. Kennedy brings a diverse skill set to the table.
