Highlights
Just returned from Yerevan. There is some progress to report, as Armenia is set to adopt its first cryptocurrency regulation by Q2-Q4 2025 under the leadership of the Central Bank of Armenia. Below, in the comments, you will find the link to the draft of the law released for public consultation.
There is so much respect I have for their team that has worked so hard to make it happen Tigran Davtyan, PhD, Marine Tumanyan, Garegin Lputyan, Anna Petrosyan, Ilona Guganyan, Arshak Kamalyan, MBA, Marianna Gevorgyan, ICA and countless more.
With more than 11 nationalities in the room, we spent the last few days providing in-depth insights and best practices while sharing failures from our home jurisdictions with the Armenian authorities, which might be prevented during the implementation process. Let's be fair that not everything has been a 'bad of roses' in the VA legislation.
With a growing amount of onboarded experts, it has been my honor to welcome Nikoloz Kandelaki an acting Head of PSP and VASP registration department of the National Bank of Georgia. He has been receiving our training for around one and half years ago and now joined to assist its geographical neighbor - with a verbal declaration from his entire team to co-join if needed. Greta Barkauskienė from the Lithuanian Center of Excellence in Anti-Money Laundering | Pinigų plovimo prevencijos kompetencijų centras & Co-Driver, of the Europols Public Private Crypto Initiative, Johan Toll from ChromaWay, Krista Randvere from the Estonian FIU as well as Katharina Lasota who might have worked with MICA like no other in Switzerland.
It was our premiere together in #Yerevan, within this group. What stands out is how open everyone has been. We zoomed in to reflections, challenges, observations, and suggestions to avoid gaps in the legislation. Primary Johan Toll shared all of the regulatory challenges that are slowing down business and its development as it develops to quickly to current regulatory frameworks.
