Minakshi Tikoo

Professor, School of Nursing at University of Connecticut

Minakshi Tikoo is a highly experienced professor with a background in health informatics, translational health services evaluation research, and quality of care.

With over 20 years of experience, Professor Tikoo specializes in designing and developing management information systems to enhance data quality and performance management.

She has contributed to various informatics projects at state and local levels and has received funding for her research from prestigious institutions like the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Technology (ONC).

At the state level, Dr. Tikoo has been involved in implementing automated reporting systems to measure quality and performance outcomes in states like Connecticut and Virginia.

She actively engages in improving care delivery by working closely with providers to facilitate the adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHR) at the local level.

Professor Tikoo's research interests include developing performance outcome measures, implementing quality improvement programs, using technology to enhance care delivery processes, conducting health services research in Behavioral Health Care, evaluating the impact of EHR adoption on system and patient outcomes, as well as assessing the impact of Health Information Exchanges on the care system.

In terms of education, Dr. Tikoo holds a Master of Science in Counseling with a focus on Family Therapy, a Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy with a specialization in Ecology from Kansas State University, a Master of Science in Child Development from Delhi University, a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education from Delhi University, and a Masters in Informatics from Oregon Health & Science University.

Currently, Professor Tikoo serves as a faculty member at the School of Nursing at the University of Connecticut and has previously held the position of Health Information Technology Coordinator in the Health and Human Services department at UConn Health. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor at UConn Health.
