"I don't care enough about the environment to make sacrifices, I'll be dead when the world floods or becomes a desert anyway."

I’ve heard similar statements many times during my career, alongside assumptions that technological innovation will eventually fix all such problems while we sit back, relax and continue our consumption habits.

Sure, most of the burden will fall on our children and grandchildren. But we must understand that our inaction right now will mark us as the lazy, selfish generation that missed the last chance for humanity to reverse its course. Or even worse, we will render the planet inhabitable with our excessive pollution, as we have seen in Wall-E.

We need to take action today because it is happening right now. For example, Malaysia's flood mitigation budget jumped from RM500 million in 2023 to RM12 billion in 2024. The melting ice, big wildfires, rising seas, and hotter temperatures are becoming more and more frequent. Landfill design was not made to account for flooding by rising sea levels, which would cause an unprecedented level of toxic pollution due to heavy metals we have dumped during the few decades of the digital revolution.

The global e-waste recycling rate is still below 20%. Everyone is guilty. Let's put an end to this right now. If you are not sure how to handle your household or business electronic waste, reach out to ERTH (BlueBee Technologies Sdn. Bhd.), we can help.
