Your Support for the proposed "Digital Competition Law"
I’m highly supportive of proposed Digital Competition Law by our Govt which is the best way to address abuse of digital monopolies.
Existing laws are not able to effectively prevent the abuse of digital monopolies. Europe recently implemented Digital Markets Act to address the same. Indian digital companies have fighting for years with Google on their abuse of monopoly without any meaningful success for years.
Many of you may aware of the deletion of popular apps including BharatMatrimony by Google few months and the intervention of out Govt to get these apps back.
One of the main challenges has been GBPS (Google Billing Payment System) where Google mandates the implementation of their billing payment system and charging companies 15% or 30% of their revenue compared to less than 2% charged by other payment gateways. GBPS is also a double whammy where the companies implemented any of the options of GBPS also saw their revenue dropping substantially.
The main aspect of Digital Competition Law is that companies above certain revenue and users will be classified as SSDE (Systematically Significant Digital Enterprises). These companies can’t bundle and force the use of their own services or prevent the use of third party services. Also it has ex-ante provision where CCI can pro-actively step in prevent the abuse of power by SSDEs where currently it is ex-post where CCI investigates post the event and the current investigation and legal process takes a long time.
We are also requesting Govt to increase the threshold for SSDE to ensure the law largely covers the very large digital companies.
I’m grateful to our Govt for this proposed Digital Competition Law. I sincerely hope it becomes the Law in the near future to ensure Indian Digital companies can thrive and grow without any fear of Digital Monopolies.
I strongly believe this law is very important for our country and digital companies.
If you are a digital company and want to support the cause, pls share the post and also message me.
Thank you.

Wish you all a Happy Mahashivratri and Women'ss Day
Today is very special as it is both Mahashivratri and International Women's Day.
Lord Siva himself had demonstrated both men are women are equal through his Ardhanarishvara form. It represents the union of Lord Shiva and his consort, Parvati, as they merge into a single entity. According to Hindu mythology, this union represents the balance of masculine and feminine energies within the universe and the importance of harmony and unity.
My and my wife celebrated Mahashivratri last year at Isha Coimbatore.
I also take this opportunity to share the TV commercial we did with legend Dhoni few years ago to promote equality in relationship with #FindYourEqual TV compaign.
