Highlights
I want to give a shout-out to two very amazing women who work tirelessly to help others and don't like the spotlight!
Lisa Belmonte Diaz - if I was a jobseeker I would listen to every single piece of advice she gives, pearls of wisdom and I don't know a better more effective communicator than her! She has a heart of Gold and always wants to help others, always puts others first often at her own detriment and keeps it very real! If you are looking for a job connect with this TITAN and visit her profile!
Rebecca Moloney - we have worked together on roles for 5 years and I can honestly say I do not know a better recruiter than her, in my entire career! B is ex-military so she doesn't suffer fools, her expertise in understanding candidates (is second to none including myself), the advice she gives to help candidates is World-Class and her ability to communicate is amazing. But the greatest asset B has is her unwavering integrity!
I can honestly tell you if you are looking for a job these two TITANS are worth connecting with, following, and benefit from their deep insights into how employers work so you find a job!
Can I issue a word of warning to the men - first do not come on my post and abuse any woman (especially not these two Titans), do not try to hit on these ladies (this is not the space for that) and finally learn to interact in a positive professional manner.
#spotlight
Have been talking to a few people who are all experienced cybersecurity professionals (mostly within GRC) and they have been relating their experience when they first entered the industry.
The overwhelming theme is that when they first started the level of support (to females especially) was poor and entry level candidates were expected to have much greater knowledge/experience then they actually had. Many females felt intimidated to ask for help (within a very male dominated space) & the poor communication within the team often meant they had to self-help rather than get assistance.
I do believe it’s not as bad as it was in the past but if we want to encourage more diversity and inclusion we neee to ensure that as new individuals join the team they feel part of the group! When a person doesn’t feel part of the team they will either leave or not establish themselves as quickly as possible which means they won’t be doing the best job possible.
A proper onboarding process with regular check to ensure the newbie is happy & doesn’t need any help are vital for a successful team.
I would love to hear the thoughts of cybersecurity professionals who are tenured & happy to share their experiences.
