Is 8 Agile Coaches going to be too many cooks in the kitchen?
That's what we set to find out last week when Danish-based Agile Coaches gathered for an informal evening of making Ukrainian borsch. I was delighted that my colleagues were curious and willing to learn about UNESCO-inscribed intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine, not just by tasting but making it together!
The evening showed that it's not just about 2-pizza teams, but also 2 pots of borsch (we made regular and vegan version). Turns out, it's not too many cooks when the cooks practice resolving impediments, optimizing the flow, removing bottlenecks, visualizing the work, self-organizing and having fun while doing it!
Most difficult part was... saying "Borsch"😄
Thank you for being part of it Nynne Furbo Skov, Daniel Eika Frøkiær, Jon Schou 🌱, Peter Sloth Madsen, Anne Frost Hermansen, Katharina Rohrmüller, Lisbeth Tagel and sorry you couldn't join this time Sophia Aumüller-Wagner and Christian Thordal
Have you ever tried to transform an online training into offline one?
For a long time it was the opposite: people looked for ways to engage a group online pursing the same value as an offline session. Now in our Agile Chapter in DFDS, we have a well-organized online Agile Introduction training that has been run multiple times with people joining across locations, and suddenly we had a group that was all in the headquarters! We got a chance to do this IN-REAL-LIFE!
So my fellow Agile Coach Peter Sloth Madsen and I got some legos and flip charts and enjoyed the company of colleagues eager to get the foundation right. That was a wonderful experience (despite needing more time to clean up after 😁). We kept an online element though, so AI had a chance to summarize what happened:
This workshop provided participants with an introduction to Agile methodologies. Coaches Nadia and Peter facilitated a session aimed at instilling a common understanding of Agile's values, principles, and frameworks among participants from diverse backgrounds. The workshop included a mix of theory and practical exercises, such as creating a product backlog, engaging in sprint planning, and executing tasks in designated time frames using LEGO to build a model city. The exercises highlighted the challenges of delivering incremental value, embracing change, and collaborating effectively under time constraints. The session also incorporated reflection periods for participants to examine their processes and outcomes critically. The training concluded with feedback from the participants, aiming to enhance future workshops. The key Agile concepts emphasized included customer satisfaction, constructive stakeholder involvement, and the significance of adaptability in an ever-evolving project landscape.
