September 1st marks the end of summer 🌞 and BACK TO….
So, how do you refocus your company, team, or group after the holidays? Here are five essential actions to prioritize in the last four months of the year:
-
Close Out Your Annual Goals It’s time to double down. Take stock of what you can accomplish, plan your activities to complete them - remember everyone else is also motivated to complete their goals too, so now is the time to close them out!
-
Start Planning for 2025 While closing out this year’s goals is crucial, it’s equally important to start planning for 2025. Evaluate what you’ve accomplished this year and use these insights to set realistic and ambitious objectives for the upcoming year. Engage with your leadership team to forecast, strategize, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
-
Re-Energize Your Team After a well-deserved break, it’s essential to re-energize your team. Organize team-building activities and RE-communicate the company’s vision and end-of-year targets. A motivated and cohesive team will be more productive and engaged in driving the company towards its goals.
-
Evaluate Financial Health Conduct a thorough review of your company’s financial health. Analyze your cash flow, expenses, and revenue streams. Make necessary adjustments to ensure financial stability and sustainability. This might include cutting unnecessary costs, optimizing operations, or exploring new revenue opportunities.
-
Focus on Your Network Strengthen your relationships with key customers and stakeholders. Reach out to your top clients, gather feedback, and ensure their needs are being met. A strong customer relationship can lead to increased loyalty and potential upsell opportunities, contributing to your company’s growth and stability.
What are your Back To Reality priorities ?
My opinion on remote and flexible work is: It depends on the organisation and the individual's desire to have work infringe on their personal time (eg: time with kids, excercise, etc)....
However, I am seeing some weird things.
For example; at my gym, one young woman was taking conference calls on her laptop (with video facing a wall) from the changing room, over multiple weeks. I believe she was asked to stop when someone complained as no videos or photos are allowed in the changing rooms (of course!)... By the way, my gym has a member's lounge where she could have taken the call!
It reminds me of the start of "dress down" Fridays back in the days we all wore suits. I remember, as a young professional cringing as the middle age men arrived to the office in lycra. Prompting HR to put out a memo describing what was appropriate "business casual" dress code 🙈
In this Viral TikTok video, the employee answers her boss' call, during office hours from the Hairdressers - giving nee meaning to WFH (Work from Hairdresser!!)
In this raging debate, what are limits as an employee and as a manager?
