Friends, family, and parasocial connections, you’re looking at the new Social Media Lead for Ramp—one of the fastest growing fintech companies of all time!

Earlier this year, I was building a freelance client base while planning to part ways with Allebach Communications. But I hit a wall. My creative attention was pulled in several directions and I wasn’t delivering exceptional work. By June, I decided to start looking for full-time positions.

Shortly after, my friend Nick swooped in. He was interviewing with Ramp, but ended up landing at Stripe. So he passed me onto their talent team, claiming they were en route to blow up the B2B SaaS world.

I thought he was just blowing B2B smoke. After reading over a dozen articles and watching more founder interviews than I care to admit, I learned he wasn’t. Ramp really is what so many companies claim to be. A ~unicorn~

Their ethos is saving businesses time and money by streamlining and automating the entire financial workflow on one platform, from corporate cards to expense management, accounts payable, and beyond.

They believe the more companies use Ramp, the more those companies will grow, thus the more frequently they’ll use Ramp, thus the more Ramp will grow. They’re literally betting on themselves.

Today marks the end of my first week. Right away I've learned the company culture matches its values. The workers prioritize velocity over bureaucracy. They take ownership of their craft. They keep customers at the heart of their products. And they maintain a steady flow of Slack memes.

Ramp hires folks who want to build cool stuff that (1) makes a difference and (2) actually gets released, rather than killed over a thousand meetings. A few months ago I didn’t know it existed. Now I can’t imagine being anywhere else.

HUGE thanks to Samuel for being a stellar interview liaison, to Lulu for vouching for me, and to Lindsay, Eric, Karim, and the rest of the team for believing in me. It's been the warmest welcome.

Expect shitposts. Expect sincereposts. Expect me to lose my mind from all the fintech acronyms.

But most importantly, expect to see Ramp social media content land in the top Google image results for "Ramp" (please SEO gods, this is my only real goal).

After 10 years of working with my family marketing agency Allebach Communications, I’m moving onto my next quest.

This was one of the most difficult forks in the road I've ever faced. I owe my career to the agency, and to my parents who gifted me the opportunity. When I joined as an intern in 2014, I was just an angsty songwriter who thought I was above advertising—directionless and cynical.

3 years and countless cringe social media content calendars later, the opportunity to run Steak-umm’s Twitter account fell in my lap, just as I was throwing in the towel. I hadn't found a place on the team. My privilege haunted me. My experience was insufficient. I had begun applying for other jobs, thinking this wasn’t the industry for me.

So when the client gave me total freedom to rebuild a forgotten frozen beef sheet brand, I ran with it like there was no tomorrow, hoping to make a mark.

I'll never forget those early days, tweeting from morning into night like a lunatic, averaging 4,000-6,000 tweets a month until it went "viral" for the first time with #VerifySteakumm. I drove my (then vegan) wife crazy.

From 2017 through 2021, the repeated virality of that brand opened up my career. I was invited to a SMM community, where I met dozens of peers—many of whom have become friends and mentors. Speaking and freelance gigs were thrown at me left and right. People began to follow my writing and hot takes.

The whole experience was incredibly humbling. And once that chapter closed, I spent years wrestling with my future—either to go all in and run the family business, or try building something for myself. After partnering with Strong Towns last year and having some aha moments, I decided on the latter.

But I'm leaving the Allebach team in good hands. My sister Ashlyn joined a couple years back and quickly became the sharpest Account Executive I ever worked with. So if you’re hunting for a seasoned marketing agency in the food & beverage space, hit them up!

I owe too many kudos to tag, but here are a few: my dad Jamie, who never stopped believing in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. My mom Tammy, who has been the most caring "office mom" anyone could ask for. And my best buds Jeff & Robert for being my creative companions and sounding boards over the years.

I'll miss our whole crew. And our agency partners. And most of our clients 😉

Peace and love to everyone who worked with me, taught me, and put up with my shenanigans the past decade. It's been the realest.

My next move will be announced soon 👀
