Naveen Selvadurai is an American internet entrepreneur best known as the co-founder of Foursquare, a location-based social networking platform. He was born on January 27, 1982, in Chennai, India, and later moved to the United States, where he completed his education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Computer Science.
After co-founding Foursquare in 2009 with Dennis Crowley, Selvadurai played a significant role in developing the platform, which allows users to "check in" at various locations using mobile devices. However, he stepped down from his operational role in 2012 amid reported tensions within the company. Following his departure, he worked on various projects, including a mobile application for the health insurance startup Oscar, backed by Thrive Capital, and engaged in angel investing.
In 2014, Selvadurai joined Expa, a startup studio founded by Garrett Camp, as a Venture Partner focused on operations in New York City. At Expa, he collaborates with founders to develop and launch new companies, emphasizing mobile, platforms, and marketplaces.
