Highlights
Textiles use PFAS or “forever chemicals” to make materials waterproof.
PFAS exposure causes kidney and liver damage, fertility issues, cancer, developmental delay, and a whole host of other diseases!
This is the serious problem that Nibertex, a Philippines based innovative materials startup is tackling head-on with their proprietary 100% PFAS-free nanofiber membrane!
It’s not just healthier for humans and the environment. Their material is also super high-performance, and the applications of this membrane can be used in textile, mattress, and healthcare!
Also… SEA-born deep tech company just makes my excitement shoot up the roof 🤯 New innovations don’t just come from Europe or the US!
PFAS did their job… but it’s time to go! We deserve to live healthier lives and our planet deserves better!
Big love and support for the co-founders brothers Jae H. Park and Jae M. Park!

After your arm gets amputated, what prosthetic are you getting?
None of them, when you live in developing countries. People have accidents and it’s too expensive to get a functional, bespoke prosthetic arm for most.
Vietnam-based Vulcan Augmetics is a robotic prosthetics startup looking to help 38 million amputees globally, and their geography is proof that quality tech like this doesn’t have to come from Europe or the US.
Its practical philosophy makes it work for their target audience: low-income, manual labourers get prosthetics that will make them employable again and earn income. It’s not the death sentence it almost always is.
VA is a great example of a customer-oriented product: For affordability issues, the startup partners with companies that subsidise the prosthetics, and later the beneficiaries get employment.
The solution goes beyond a product, but a holistic life-changer… such a rare demonstration of sustainable thinking and empathy!
(Shout out to Rafael Masters!! Rock on guys!)
