Quick question to my small number of followers (hi mum 👋🏼), does anyone consider the ADA (https://www.ada.gov/) to be a sizeable risk in their website builds/operations? If I told you that there was plenty of litigation flowing off the back of it and I may know of a potential solution, would you think I was crazy?

How many cold emails do you get per week?

If you’re a business owner like me, it’s probably at least one per day. And they all pretend to be based on some sort of ‘research’ into your particular business/sector, but frequently they miss the point.

They, like many people these days, think that digital marketing (including email outreach) is a numbers game and often they’ll end up advising you to discount your prices in the proverbial race to the bottom. I know, I get it, I think about it every day.

So what’s the answer? Well I think it comes down to three things:

  1. know your client’s business, get properly involved, attend the management meetings, understand what you’re selling!

  2. get creative. Invest in the copy, invest in the creative. You’ve got to get attention!

  3. understand your cost of acquisition and lifetime value. Quite simply, how much do you spend acquiring new clients, how many do you attract, and what do they spend? These seem like simple metrics, but the devil is in the detail and I find most business owners I talk to don’t know these numbers or the importance of them!

So, here’s the thing. I was so frustrated by the above that I built a business to serve me. I hired a bunch of really talented people in South Africa (same time zone, same language, lower salaries, better standard of living!) and I started introducing them to my friends. That grew, and now I run an agency. But I like to say that what I really have is a marketing department, which I outsource into businesses that I like, that I believe in, and that I know we can grow together. I charge fixed fees, for a full stack team and the only metrics I’ll ever discuss with you are the ones that matter to you and your business!

Whether you’re raising money, looking for an exit, or just growing it because you’ve got an awesome product or service which the world needs to hear about…I think my team can help and I’d love to have a call with you.
