Could AI be a/the new religion?
I had the privilege of attending an inspiring session last week, at Tel Aviv University with Sam Altman and Ilya Sutskever of OpenAI
The room was filled to capacity, serving as a testament to the influential figures of the hour.
One of the highlights came from Ilya, he emphasized the significance of faith in the realm of AI models. "When you work on AI models, you have to have faith; you have to believe in what you're doing." It struck me how faith, traditionally associated with religion, is now being discussed in the context of technology.
It led me to wonder, as these brilliant minds pour their focus into their work, I can only hope they are focused on finding a smart balance between the quality and quantity of the tools they create.
Amidst the excitement, a few questions arise:
Will OpenAI, as a leading force in the field, follow in the footsteps of Mark Zuckerberg, finding ways to maneuver around regulatory limitations? Will OpenAI comply if the path is more rigorous than anticipated? Or will they be committed to upholding a regulatory framework that aligns with their core values?
