Highlights
By 2030, every 10-year-old will manage their own AI-assistant team. 🤖 Are we preparing them properly?
The case for adding 'AI Management 101' to the K-12 curriculum 🎓
Soon, everyone will need to know how to manage AI agents—not just for work but for life, too. We'll all have our own team of digital employees 🖥️, handling all sorts of tasks across our personal and work lives.
So, where's the problem? Most people have no idea about managing or delegating work—things like framing issues, setting clear objectives, and iteratively managing output toward a desired end. Historically, most humans were individual contributors (more than 90% still are today), not managers 📈.
Lots of people are already being left behind by technology. 😥 In my native Denmark, many senior citizens struggled to book vaccines during COVID-19 because it required a government-mandated 2FA mobile app 📲 (hint: not as user-friendly as Google Authenticator). A further gap in the ability to use advanced technologies will lead to a new form of digital exclusion unless we find ways to teach everyone practical "AI management" skills.
As we navigate this new landscape, those who can effectively manage their "AI teams" will thrive—those who can't risk falling behind.
But here's the good part: Managing real people is complicated, with emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, conflict resolution, etc. Thankfully, AI doesn't need any of that!
What if "AI Management 101" was the newest school subject in grade 3? The future of education is about more than just mastering traditional academic skills. We need to start viewing AI management as a fundamental skill.
Think about this - your chirpy three-year-old could soon manage a whole crew of AI bots. Silly? Not really. Scary? Perhaps. 😳
How do we best equip our children to be great "AI managers" - without depriving them of the wonder and magic of childhood? 🌈
