Highlights
Llama3.1 is creating quite the buzz among developers and AI enthusiasts these days. Sure, you can run the 8B model on consumer hardware, but how would you try the 70B and the ginormous 405B models without paying for significant compute.
Did you know that these open source / open weight models are now available as Model-as-a-Service on Google Cloud ? So you only pay for the tokens input and output and don't need to set up compute + GPUs.
What's cooler you ask? The service is currently in public preview, and until the time that it is, it is completely "free" to use.
What are you waiting for? Have you tried Llama3.1 yet? (links in comments)
