Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO gives credit to Pune boy, says “GPT-4o wouldn’t have happened without Prafulla Dhariwal.”
Dhariwal was an academically gifted student, who ended up as a research intern at #OpenAI in 2016 and climbed his way up to become a research scientist and lead the team working on GPT-4o. All followed after he achieved a great deal at MIT’s undergrad Research Center for Brains, Minds, and Machines.
It's Prafulla’s dedication, hard work and a knack for innovation, combined with the power of being at the right places at the right time!
Dhariwal’s vision changes the way we interact with computers altogether, as it can reason across audio, vision, and text in real time. This is also the first model to come out of their omni channel.
Great Indian minds have been leading the tech revolution for some time now and this is just another proud moment for our nation, as a brilliant Pune boy changes the way we use AI and computers forever!

Married to an artist, my interest in art was just bound to develop. Sometimes, you see pieces or a certain form of art that gives rise to emotions in you that you might have never experienced before. I came across a fascinating art form that just did that for me, and made me feel calm and joyful all, at the same time.
So, I decided to delve a little deeper and find out what is it and where it came from.
I am sure, most of you must have seen the artform below at hill stations, in monasteries, or on your visit to Nepal or Tibet. This beautiful, intricate art form called “Thangka” originated in Tibet in the 11th century.
There are schools dedicated to teaching the Thangka Art and it takes a student about twelve years to learn the art form and about the Buddhist symbolisms and deities. The training happens under the guidance of Lamas and gurus.
They also use gold and silver to paint these paintings. What got me into them, was how intricately detailed and beautiful they are. Every little detail had meaning behind it, the more you zoom in, the more there is to find.
Next time you see one of these paintings, do take the time to truly look at it, experience it, and catch the meditative Buddhist essence that the painting style holds so wonderfully.
