I'm doing a study on career progression in UX. Growth in the field looks different from person to person and I'd love to gather a variety of experiences from all levels of practitioners.

Whether you're brand new to the field or have been working for 15+ years, I'd like to hear from you!

Putting the finishing touches on my new NN/g course, Visual Design Fundamentals, which debuts next week! https://lnkd.in/g5sFYG3

When asking UXers about their most desired skills, I was surprised to hear that both designers AND researchers rated visual design high on their list. But when I thought about the many different tasks UXers are focused on, it made more sense as to why that might be the case.

Designers may be more focused on wireframing or facilitation in their day-to-day, but want to be able to add visual polish to their designs or better understand why a visual designer went down a certain path.

Researchers are conducting and analyzing research but may spend a lot of time creating decks to share that research internally. A well-designed deck might get more people to consume those findings.

Visual design is something that feels subjective and potentially inaccessible to those who only know that they like or don't like something, but aren't sure why.

My goal with this new course is to break down this subjectivity into real principles and takeaways so that we can have more meaningful and constructive conversations about visual design on teams.
