Highlights
Wrapping up an Incredible Summer at Loblaw Digital :)
I am incredibly fortunate to have been part of Loblaw Digital this summer as a Product Management Intern. This journey was power packed with learning, contributing, and building meaningful relationships with everyone whom I met in person or virtually.
From immersing into LD's vision and roadmap in the very first week, participating in Shark Tank, and contributing to key projects for both existing and future roadmaps, every moment was an opportunity to learn, upskill, and give back to the key stakeholders whose pain points we were solving.
I am grateful for the responsibilities I was entrusted with by Jonah Morris, Julie M., my entire platform team and always sought out more ways to contribute to our diverse and dynamic team. One of the highlights was connecting with nearly 30+ talented people through the strong coffee chat culture here at LD. I have created some great and meaningful bonds that I will cherish for years to come. I also had the pleasure of contributing to the intern committee team alongside the driving force Jasmine Ho and our stellar team, as well as sharing my PM journey with fellow interns to help them kickstart theirs.
As I head back to UBC to complete my MBA at the end of this year and prepare for the next chapter, I am taking back with me countless lessons and areas for growth. I am really excited to continue my journey and find the right product-focused full time role in the coming months.
Thank you everyone at Loblaw Digital for an unforgettable summer. I could not be more content and happy with all that I have learned and experienced. :D

How did I end up winning a Shark Tank event in the first week of my summer internship? This post is not about boasting personal achievement; It is about sharing a story of curiosity and inclusivity at the workplace. In my case, it's the story of Loblaw Digital
On my first day of internship (May 6th), I saw a Slack post about a Shark Tank event scheduled for May 10th. Although registrations had closed, I wanted to understand LD’s various business lines and the problem the team aimed to solve. I quickly expressed my interest in joining any team as an observer, if not a participant, to my mentors. Within minutes, my mentor shared my message with all participating teams on Slack, and a team kindly invited me to join their journey.
On May 7th, I introduced myself to the team during our first brainstorming session. I was encouraged to leverage my past experience and contribute as much as possible. I was in a room with product designers, senior product managers, and others who had been with the organization for over three years and had a deep understanding of LD’s operating business.
I ended up contributing to the team by helping solve the problem statement through a scalable product-led recommendation engine. On May 10th, my stellar team and I presented our idea and won the Shark Tank in our category. The inclusivity I experienced from day one has been unreal, a solid testament to one of LD’s core values. When this picture was taken, I distinctly remember how everyone on the floor shouted "Awwww" at us. Haha! I remember my mentor congratulating me and saying, “Not a bad first week, eh?” to which I replied, “Haha, not at all.”
I am thrilled and humbled to share that I started my internship at LD earlier this month as a product management intern for our front end platform team.
Having previously worked as a product manager, leading efforts such as monetization funnel, personalization, and growth initiatives, my new role at Loblaw Digital will further diversify my skill set and aligns perfectly with my short and long-term goals. My focus will be on front-end platform initiatives and supporting my skilled team members in empowering our various lines of business by solving problems at scale and driving adoption.
Other key focus areas include gaining expertise in my current role, understanding the scope of other platform and channel teams, embracing-imbibing the LD culture, and ensuring everyone around me feels included and heard at all times. Thanks a ton for the opportunity, and I look forward to continue learning, working, and growing with you all here at LD. Jonah Morris Dagmara Guy Nolan Roth
