Highlights
On our latest Founders In Arms episode, I told @severinhacker something that felt personal:
“You and @LuisvonAhn have become poster children for immigrant founders in the U.S.”
That wasn’t just a compliment. It was a reflection of something I think about every day.
I work with a lot of national immigration activists. I’ve helped high-skilled immigrants navigate their way into the U.S. through red tape, delays, and uncertainty, just to build something of value here.
Founders like Severin didn’t just move countries. They built companies while figuring out how to get a Social Security number, how to make friends, how to belong. That’s not just intelligence, it’s grit. Adaptation. Problem-solving at a human level.
And that’s the part of immigration we don’t talk about enough in tech. It’s not just a visa process. It’s a mindset. One that aligns with entrepreneurship better than any credential ever could.
If America wants to remain the world’s innovation engine, we have to make it easier for people like Severin, and the thousands who haven’t been lucky enough to land yet, to build here.
It’s not charity. It’s strategy.
