AI technologies represent both an opportunity and a threat to the news industry. For the past decades, news organizations worldwide have come under pressure from declining advertising and print subscription revenues. AI technologies, if adopted and implemented early enough to their full potential, could positively influence the sustainability of news organizations.
I'll be speaking at WAN-IFRA, the World Association of News Publishers event in Jakarta, representing DailySocial.id - Indonesian Startup Media & Research on how AI is redefining new campaign models while offering immense opportunities for direct interactions between media and brands to discover new, stronger, and more unique forms of collaboration. I'll joining an amazing panel together with Dian Gemiano, Cahyanto Arie Wibowo and Janoe Arijanto.

In June 2024, India surpassed $2.2bn in startup funding, the highest in two years while China booked $2.8bn, a 14% Month-on-Month increase. Both are driven by mega deals, a few investment deals with large transaction value over $100mn (India 3, China 7). Southeast Asia, unfortunately, is still lagging with a stubborn decline in startup funding, down 11% month-on-month, and only 3 mega deals.
The broader trend shows a positive trajectory, so will SEA catch up soon?
