2 weeks ago, our project was one of the 10 winners of ETHGlobal's HackFS virtual hackathon!
This was a huge accomplishment for us as my teammates (Richard Liu + Jashan Shewakramani) and I were relatively new to blockchain development. We were also up against 133 really cool projects aiming to build the foundation of a decentralized internet.
It was a month-long hackathon (where the longest one I've been to was 2.5 days over a weekend), so it look a lot of effort from the 3 of us to maintain our progress (virtually) while juggling our full-time internships.
Our project, PlanetFlare, tackled the oligopolistic CDN (content delivery network) market by prototyping a decentralized infrastructure in which anyone with a laptop can spin up their own CDN node and get paid for serving web content.
I had a lot of fun learning and building decentralized applications using IPFS and Ethereum, and it was super cool to see the impact that decentralized tech can have on the world. Looking forward to working on more dApps!
Shout-out to Michelle Liang for making our beautiful PlanetFlare logo!
