Raul G. Longoria is a Professor in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He received his B.S.M.E. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985 and 1989, respectively.12 Dr. Longoria joined the faculty at UT Austin in 1991 and has been teaching there for over 33 years.4

His research and teaching interests focus on:

Dr. Longoria is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and holds memberships in professional organizations such as ASME, IEEE, SAE, and ISTVS.1 He has published numerous research papers in prestigious journals and conferences, with his work on coordinated vehicle dynamics control being highly cited.3

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Longoria is an avid cyclist and has been commuting to campus by bicycle since around 2007.2 He was born and raised in Mission, Texas, and considers himself a descendant of the Longorias who settled in the Rio Grande Valley region in the 1700s.2
