Richard Swartwout

Richard Swartwout is a technology entrepreneur and researcher with expertise in cleantech and solar energy. He served as a Venture Investor at Safar Partners from June 2019 to January 2022.1 Currently, he is the Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Active Surfaces, a company developing ultra-thin flexible solar technology based on MIT patents.12

Swartwout has a strong academic background, holding a PhD and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from MIT, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.1 His research has focused on nanotechnology, thin film devices, and solar cell technologies.13
