Helloo LinkedIn family, I am happy to share that recently I got married and hence started adapting to certain cultural traditions in my daily life. And here are 2 events that stuck me, which I wanted to discuss here-

  1. I am Wearing 5 toe-rings on an everyday basis, one day while I was strolling in mall in my ripped jeans few women asked if I am forced to wear these ? Or for how many days more I will have to wear it? Oh your culture mandates so many toe rings, that might be so troublesome? And I replied everyone that it’s not forced, this I am wearing because I love these. Although there are scientific benefits too of wearing toe-rings.

  2. In another incident, Recently I posted a picture of me applying Aalta on foot out of my own choice on a regular day and everyone was a bit shocked. As they have always seen me as strong self-made modern women. Even my mom said that I know some people living in cities who say we don’t put aalta because we will be tagged as Bihari. I was shocked to hear this.

Why are we losing pride in our own culture? Can’t we be progressive and modern while withholding our cultural roots ?
