For those of you who aren’t aware, in my spare time I volunteer as a youth football coach for FC Bracknell, something I’ve done for around 14 years now over 2 separate stints with both of my sons teams. I’ve always regretted not pushing on with my football coaching badges after passing my FA level 1 in early 2010, always making the excuse to myself that I was too busy. Self-reflecting I realised I needed to add a few more tools to the tool bag to help my coaching capability to maximise the development potential of my players. Way before Covid I registered interest for the level 2 course but never heard back. Then Covid struck and courses like this stopped. With restrictions lifted, getting onto a course became tricky, with very little being run in this area and the demand far outstripping the supply. I was however very lucky to be accepted onto the UEFA C course (which has taken over from the FA level 2 plus some of the FA youth modules wrapped into it) last July and started that learning journey in October at Bradfield College.

I recently met with my FA tutor to go through my final bits of paperwork from the last 6 or so months of effort and today I received my certificate from the FA to confirm I’m now a UEFA C licensed coach 😊⚽️

Thank you for FC Bracknell for your continued investment in your coaches education to ultimately help develop our youth players.
