PS. Join our mission as we Build India's Gaming Revolution !
Today, on Aug 15, 2022 and India’s Independence Day, we’re taking Indus to the world with our trailer debuting on New York’s Times Square. This follows our Jan 26, 2022 Republic day, announcement of Indus our battle royale game, which has been in development since Nov 2020.
Here’s what’s now — and what’s next. In the past several months, we’ve had our heads down working on making Indus the game you deserve to play. Indus is real: the game is at a stage where we SuperGaming are able to play it in-house regularly.
Indus is fast improving with our community: we had our first community playtest for the game this month. A curated experience that fans, players, content creators and even esports pros attended.
Last weeks Indus community playtest resulted in a host of interesting takeaways including:
80 percent of the community had a positive sentiment with the theme of Indo-Futurism. Over 50 percent of those at the playtest want more game development and behind-the-scenes content. Roughly 30 percent prefer gyroscopic controls in-game. Most entries for playtest invitations were from Pune followed by Delhi, Gujarat, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The average age of players was under 25.
Their response to the game and its themes allows us to make Indus better. It also validated many design decisions. In fact, this feedback was so important to making a better game that it confirmed what we already felt — games can’t be made in a vacuum.
More so when battle royale games are played by 350 million gamers in India and are a billion dollar market in the country. In-app purchases on mobile shooters have grown 40% CAGR year on year. Most importantly, NO Game in the genre has been built for an India-First audience until Indus.
The audience matters.
Sure, it might sound ridiculously simple, but it’s the principle that guided us to make MaskGun and Silly Royale the games they are today. MaskGun has 64 million players in around 3 years. Silly Royale 20 million players in close to a year, all supported by just organic marketing efforts.
All of this is because of vocal and regular support from community and content creators where our teams work at the grass root level rather than traditional marketing channels.
While there’s still some way to go for Indus, pre-registrations for mobile open later this year. The team is planning for a lot more expanded playtests which we hope you’ll be a part of.
Indus is our take on the most ambitious game built in Indian gaming so far and All of You are important in bringing it to life. And if you’re interested in being a part of this journey of building the best games out in India, we’re hiring for multiple roles.
