I hope your team takes this feedback and make a change.
Not sure what was the reason for your team to put this requirement, but to create a Flying Returns (FR) account, you need an email and phone number BOTH which is not used for another FR account. However, this requirement is unfair for child/minors because most of the times they won't have their own email and/or phone number, specifically until they are teenagers.
When I contacted customer support, they asked to use another family member's phone number and email to create a child's FR account. WHY SHOULD I DO THAT? What if that family member travels in future? What should a customer do if they have more than one children? Even Aadhaar card system allows to reuse a family member's phone number (even for adults).
You can't expect a child/minor to always have their own phone number and/or email.
So, while you fix this problem in your Flying Returns program requirement, a customer like me is loosing points on their child's flight. I hope you take this feedback and fix the problem. A few suggestions for your product manager.
- Create the child's FR account WITHOUT phone number.
- Use one of the family member's phone number to create the child's FR account.
- Use one of the family member's FR account on the child's ticket.
- Add child's ticket points as a bonus to one of the family member's FR.
