What a way to wrap up an incredible week!
The India Australia Business and Community Alliance immersion week ended on a high note with Friday’s gala dinner. It was a brilliant celebration of the thriving Australia-India relationship and a powerful reminder of the boundless potential we have to achieve even more together.
It was a joy to reconnect with old friends I hadn’t seen in years, including Harinder Sidhu, Sarah Todd, and Dr Amanda Day (plus 1,000 more).
Congratulations to all the winners and finalists (especially my beautiful wife Hannah Freeman) — welcome to the #IABCA alumni network! A huge thank you to Sonia Sadiq Gandhi and the entire team for making this event a success.

Same relationship, brand new perspective.
After a decade in India, I’ve been taking a break from the Australia-India relationship to recharge and refresh myself. Until this week…
Stepping back into the bilateral has been a joy, reconnecting with old friends and seeing the new faces making waves has been a delight. It’s also been fascinating to view the relationship from a new perspective – living in Australia. Living and working in India meant I didn’t have the chance to participate in events on this side of the Indian ocean.
Given this, what have I noticed this week? 1️⃣ “The energy continues to grow”. This is a phrase I’ve heard for the entirety of the time I’ve engaged with India, and it continues to be true. More businesses are waking up to the potential of the relationship, and the early adopters are deepening their engagement and reaping the benefits of their work. 2️⃣ The push continues from the top. Our Governments are more aligned than ever and they continue to be the driving force in the relationship. 3️⃣ There's still work to be done for both countries to realise their potential. But with programs like this week’s India Australia Business and Community Alliance Immersion Week we take another huge step forward.
Thanks to Sonia Sadiq Gandhi for all her efforts in putting together this program, it’s an honour to be an #IABCA Ambassador.
On we head to Canberra.
