Are you aware of the importance of storage in the context of AI? While GPUs are often discussed in relation to processing data, did you know that only 3-5% of data is being processed by them? That's why having high-performance, low latency storage is crucial to accelerating compute. Don't overlook the role that storage plays in AI - it could make all the difference in unlocking the full potential of your data. Thanks Supermicro for the partnership in building the AMD #EPYC portfolio. #AI #storage #datascience #amd #smci #epyc Vik Malyala, Paolo Basilio, Cenly Chen, Don Clegg, Olivier Suinat , Patrick Chiu, Peter Quirk, Richard Morris, PRABHAT SHARMA, Alexey Navolokin, Archana Vemulapalli, Kim Nguyen, Kishna Weaver, Kumaran Siva, Raghu Nambiar, Ronald Wong, Faheem Karim, Carl Radom, Giresh Babu Negin Oliver, John Morris, Stacey McDougal
Everyone knows about the future of AI and its large use case in language models with billions of parameters. And this is where GPU computing makes sense over CPU. Here is the white paper published by our customer and partner, which has details of the complexity of the problem, the business challenge, and how the joint partnership has helped to move a needle and make a real impact! As summarized: "KT obtained the equivalent training results for the 11B language model in both an NVIDIA DGX A100 cluster of 40 nodes (320 A100 GPUs in total) and an AMD + Moreh cluster of 40 nodes (160 MI250 GPUs in total). The AMD + Moreh system running T5-11B in Hugging Face Transformers showed 116% throughput (trained tokens per second) compared to NVIDIA DGX A100 running T5-11B in NeMo Megatron, according to the number of GPUs. Considering the construction cost of both systems, the cost-effectiveness. (throughput per dollar) is 2.05x higher for the AMD + Moreh cluster." And, if you need to get your hands on the platform, please get in touch with our partner, supermicro. #AMD #togetherweadvance #gpucomputing Forrest Norrod, Andrew Dieckmann, Bradley McCredie, Negin Oliver, Mahesh Balasubramanian, Olivier Suinat, Raghu Nambiar John Hampton Peter Chambers, Alexei Navolokin Jack Lee PRABHAT SHARMA, Roger Benson, Paul Morris, Jason Mooneyham, Kim Nguyen, Giresh Babu, Ronald Wong, Faheem Karim Ron Thomas Vik Malyala, Don Clegg Kevin S.
