Have you heard of work-from-home burnout?
As many companies shifted to remote work environments during the pandemic, I initially believed this would be a win-win situation for employees and employers.
💼 Employees would enjoy the flexibility of working from home, and companies would benefit from a wider talent pool and potentially reduced overhead costs.
However, I've recently been conversing with several CEOs of remote-first companies, and they've opened my eyes to a growing problem: work-from-home burnout.
As someone who leads a work-from-office company, I prioritize the well-being of our employees.
While remote work offers flexibility, I believe in the power of in-person collaboration and interaction to foster a positive work environment.
The impact of burnout
Burnout doesn't just affect employees. It can lead to:
- 📉 Decreased productivity and morale
- 🔄 Higher employee turnover
- 🚫 Negative impact on customer service
Here's how we combat burnout in our office environment:
- 🕒 Clear boundaries: We encourage employees to disconnect after work hours and respect personal time
- 🤝 Social interaction: We prioritize team lunches, events, and collaborative workspaces to foster connections
- 🗣️ Open communication: We encourage open communication with managers to address workload concerns
