Sara Baker

Chief Innovation Officer at FastDemocracy

Sara Baker is a highly accomplished professional serving as the Legislative and Policy Director for the ACLU of Missouri and the Chief Innovation Officer for FastDemocracy.

At the ACLU, she oversees under the dome strategy, electoral initiatives, organizing, and affiliate communications. Her responsibilities include tracking over 650 pieces of legislation per session, presenting testimony over 100 times each session, and collaborating with various organizations to influence bipartisan votes.

In her role at FastDemocracy, Sara leads product development, explores emerging markets, secures investments, and analyzes legislative requirements. Her contributions have been instrumental in developing a legislative analytics tool tailored for nonprofits and activists nationwide.

Prior to her current positions, Sara held roles such as Special Projects Manager and Stephen M. Rivers Memorial Fellow at the Center for Democracy in the Americas in Washington D.C. There, she conducted research on gender roles in Cuba's economy and collaborated with congressional delegations. Her thesis on post-Castro Cuba was published by the Director of National Intelligence's Virtual Americas Network.

Sara holds a Master's in International Affairs and a Bachelor's in International and Area Studies and Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis. She also studied at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and completed an Intermediate Certificate in Portuguese Language at Olinda Portuguese Language School.

Throughout her career, Sara has been involved in various organizations such as the American Association of University Women, Sigma Iota Rho, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
