Sarah Barnett is a dedicated professional with a strong passion for helping animals and people. She has accumulated a wealth of experience in communications, social media management, and crisis communications within the animal welfare sector.

Sarah's journey began with managing social media for the Northern Virginia based Lost Dog and Cat Rescue before moving on to national roles at the Humane Society of the United States. Currently, she serves as the Director of Development and Communications at ACCT Philly, the largest open intake shelter in the Philadelphia region, with a yearly intake of 18,000 animals.

At the Humane Society, Sarah honed her skills in public relations, social media management, and crisis communication, leading the organization to be recognized as a leader in nonprofit engagement on platforms like Twitter. She is a reputable speaker on crisis communications, brand management online, and effective social media strategies for organizations of all sizes.

Apart from her professional roles, Sarah is the founder and principal of Social Media for Animals, a platform dedicated to supporting individuals managing social media for animal shelters or rescues. She co-founded and actively participates in the Animal Shelter Social Media Facebook group, a community with over 600 members engaged in social media management for animal welfare facilities.
