Sasha Costanza-Chock

Sasha Costanza-Chock is a renowned professional with a multidisciplinary background in research, academia, and social activism. Currently serving as the Head of Research at OneProject.org, they also hold the role of Faculty Associate at the Berkman-Klein Center for Internet & Society. Sasha is a Steering Committee member of the Design Justice Network, an organization focused on promoting fairness and inclusivity in design.

Educationally, Sasha pursued their studies at prestigious institutions including Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania where they earned an MA in Communication, and the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Communication.

They have served as Head of Sensemaking & Research at One Project, as an Associate Professor at Northeastern University, and as a Director of Research & Design at The Algorithmic Justice League. Additionally, Sasha has been actively involved with the Design Justice Network, the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, and the Allied Media Projects.

Moreover, Sasha Costanza-Chock has a rich history of contributions to academia and media activism. They were an Associate Professor of Civic Media at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and have held teaching positions at the Institute for Multimedia Literacy. Sasha has also been engaged in collaborative documentary production as a Media Activist and Videographer at Indymedia.

Passionate about promoting equity and justice in design and technology, Sasha is a nonbinary trans femme individual who uses the pronouns They/Them or She/Her. Their extensive experience and expertise in communication, research, and social justice make Sasha a distinguished figure in their field.
