“Finding opportunity is a matter of believing it’s there.” - Barbara Corcoran

This morning I’m reflecting on the incredible experience I had last week Iceland Innovation Week. I first step foot in Iceland was 12 years ago, as a tourist, to explore this unique country. Little did I know that I’d be back over a decade later to witness how far its creativity and innovation has come!

This past week was beyond any expectations I might have had and filled with surprises! From investor day program to the art installations, sauna rituals, viking pitches, nature exploration, special dinners and deep conversations, I was blown away but the intentions behind every, single, detail of the IIW.

First and foremost, a massive thank you to Melkorka Sigríður Magnúsdóttir , Edda Konráðsdóttir, Katie Hitchcock 👉 The artists behind the innovation week. It was masterfully orchestrated from Monday to Friday with a succession of events, talks, dinners, workshops, networking sessions, sauna’s and parties!

Thank you to Finnur Pind whom I had the pleasure to interview on the Founder Stage to talk about his journey with Treble Technologies and why it takes a village to build a successful startup!

Thank you to our “core team” and startup family who made this week truly special Rünno, Björn, Courtney, Iryna (Trind Ventures), Samela (Specialist VC) Jørn, Kevin (Tenity), Max (Vitosha Venture Partners)

Being introduced to a number of new amazing people to have deeper conversations with; Emil, Björn, Kana, Sara, Emilie (Nordic Edge) Dominika (TechBBQ), Helga, Mikko, Ágúst, Georgia, Súsanna and many more!

Last but not least, Suur Aitäh Rünno Allikivi for doing what you do best and bringing wonderful people together in a setting that is incredibly conducive of building long lasting relationships. You understand better than most that business is done between people and that in order to build trust you need to create a setting that allows for the encounters to blossom.

Built by the community for the community, the connection between the nordic, Baltic and Icelandic ecosystem players is what makes "us" stand out. This open mentally that revolves around sharing (Information, contacts, tips, resources) is what makes us strong.

As Kevin rightfully put it, the IIW is now a clear “must-attend" on my conference calendar and I hope you’d add it to yours for 2025!
