Shana Herman

Shana Herman is a dedicated individual with a deep passion for using the law to drive environmental protection and social justice initiatives.

She holds a self-designed, interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science, Conservation Biology, and Environmental Justice from Swarthmore College.

Currently, Shana is pursuing a Doctor of Law (JD) degree at The George Washington University Law School, focusing on public interest environmental protection, civil rights, and Indigenous rights law.

Having worked as a plaintiff-side Litigation Paralegal and Environmental Specialist at Cuker Law Firm, LLC in Philadelphia for over three years, Shana has been actively involved in cases related to drinking water contamination, including the Flint, MI water crisis and PFAS contamination.

In her spare time, Shana volunteers as a grassroots community organizer with the Sunrise Movement, a youth-led organization combating climate change and advocating for sustainable job creation.

Her career aspirations lie at the crossroads of environmental protection, civil rights, and Indigenous rights law, with a keen focus on safeguarding public health, environmental sustainability, and upholding Indigenous treaty rights.

Shana also harbors ambitions of engaging in local and national politics, with the eventual goal of influencing policy-making to advance environmental justice, climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and human rights protection.
