Highlights
This year, the AMET Policy Programs team set out to lay the foundation for future engagement around the Metaverse. The first step in this process was to engage with local creators and developers to provide opportunities to support their work as we seek to develop new means of collaboration. I'm so proud of the work that we've done so far. Our MENA programs team, led by the incredible Joelle Awwad just announced the winners of a global Spark AR Hackathon where developers from over 56 countries participated in a competition to develop AR solutions for partners Accenture and Emirates Airlines. The winners were announced this week with a ceremony at Dubai's Museum of the Future.
Just as this initiative came to a close, the Sub-Saharan Africa team announced the launch of the Africa Metathon, a partnership with Imisi 3D and Blackrhino VR that will include a mix of scaled Spark AR and Unity VR training, a physical hackathon in 16 countries across the region, and a 3-month bootcamp for the hackathon winners. Applications are now open for participation. Click here for more information : https://lnkd.in/ef5Mx7uZ

Last week, we launched our first-ever Spark AR Global Hackathon based in the UAE, a collaboration with with Coders HQ, the Museum of the Future, and Lenslist.
The challenge will task a global community of creators and developers with developing AR effects aligned with the theme- “Tomorrow Today – What will the next decade bring?" in partnership with Emirates Airlines and Accenture.
Winners will get the chance to have their winning effects featured on Emirates Airlines' and Accenture’s social media pages along with a chance to win cash prizes up to $50,000.
Many kudos to Joelle Awwad of the MENAT Policy Programs team for driving this forward. I'm so excited for what this collaboration will bring. If you know anyone who would like to apply, check out the link below!
