Shipra Suri

Shipra Suri is an accomplished urban planner with a Ph.D. in Post-War Recovery Studies and over two decades of experience in post-conflict and post-disaster reconstruction, focusing on local and urban governance, including governance assessments, urban planning, and sustainable urban development in developing and transition countries.

Throughout her career, Shipra has held key positions such as Vice-President of the General Assembly of Partners and Vice-President of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). She has been associated with prestigious institutions like the University of York, where she served as an Associate at PRDU.

As a renowned public speaker, guest lecturer, moderator, and author, Shipra has demonstrated expertise in developing tools, strategy documents, knowledge products, policy papers, and advisory services in the areas of governance assessments, urban planning, and sustainable development. She has also provided training and capacity building programs for governments and organizations worldwide.

Shipra's professional journey includes working with various UN agencies such as UN-HABITAT, UNDP, and UNESCO, as well as private organizations like Philips and AGT International, and international NGOs such as World Vision. She has been involved in diverse projects, from climate change action in Macedonia to women's safety strategy in Delhi.

With extensive country experience across Asia, Africa, South East Europe, and the Middle East, Shipra has specialized in urban planning, urban and local governance, governance indicators, post-war and post-disaster reconstruction, stakeholder engagement, and partnerships.

Shipra's educational background includes a Master's in Planning from CEPT University, a Ph.D. in Post-war Recovery Studies from the University of York, and a Bachelor of Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture. She also has a foundation in science and technical drawing from Delhi Public School.

Throughout her career, Shipra has held significant roles in organizations like UN-Habitat, where she served as the Chief of the Urban Practices Branch and Coordinator of the Urban Planning and Design Branch. She has also been actively involved with initiatives such as the World Urban Campaign and Habitat III, demonstrating her commitment to sustainable urban development and governance.
