Shreya Saxena

Computational Neuroscience

Shreya Saxena is currently an Assistant Professor at Yale University in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and a core member of the Wu Tsai Institute.14 She joined Yale in 2023 after serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida from 2020 to 2023.34

Prior to her current position, Shreya was a Swiss National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Columbia University's Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute in the Center for Theoretical Neuroscience.47 Her research focuses on the neural control of complex, coordinated behavior, using computational techniques and machine learning to understand how neural activity leads to motor behavior.16

Shreya's educational background includes:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT (2011-2017)25
  • MS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University (2009-2011)25
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) (2006-2009)25

She has been recognized as a Rising Star in both Electrical Engineering (2019) and Biomedical Engineering (2018).15 Shreya's research interests span computational neuroscience, control theory, and the application of machine learning to understand neural and behavioral data.16
