Senior Software Engineer

Shuying Liang is a seasoned professional in the field of software engineering, with a focus on Android frameworks, security, and program analysis.

She joined Samsung Research America in 2016 as a senior software engineer, where she specialized in authentication, encryption, and vulnerability detection in Samsung TrustZone applications, Linux kernel, and Samsung KNOX.

In her role, Shuying utilized various analysis technologies such as type inference, taint analysis, Symbolic Execution, and fuzzing to ensure the security and integrity of large-scale code bases.

Prior to her tenure at Samsung, Shuying worked as a software engineer at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, contributing to the Fortify Source Code Analyzer (SCA) group.

During this time, she focused on the compilation and analysis of JavaScript programs, higher-order analysis, and incremental analysis for security and vulnerability detection products.

Shuying holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Utah, where she specialized in static program analysis, particularly higher-order analysis, and its application in bug detection and Android malware identification.

Her educational background also includes a Master's in Software Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and additional doctoral studies in Computer Science at Washington State University.

With a rich skill set encompassing Java, C/C++, JavaScript, Python, Scala, and Racket (Scheme), Shuying's professional expertise includes static analysis, fuzzing, symbolic execution, Java enterprise development, and distributed program analysis systems.

Throughout her career, Shuying has demonstrated a strong aptitude for tackling complex software challenges and ensuring the security and reliability of diverse code bases.

Her experience spans across leading tech companies such as Samsung Electronics and Hewlett-Packard, showcasing her versatility and proficiency in software engineering and security domains.
