I am excited to announce that today marks my official 1 month milestone as a Senior Design Researcher at THRIVE. I can’t convey how thankful I am for this opportunity without first acknowledging the indebtedness and gratitude I feel to my experience and my former colleagues at Human Spark in preparing me for this new role.
My first month at Thrive has been a whirlwind of new information, people and experiences, and so today felt like the appropriate time to share the news. My coworkers are some of the most talented, driven and generous folks I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with them has already impressed me at a level I could not have fully anticipated. The drive for expertise, for mentorship, for collaboration, for ongoing learning, and for inclusion is palpable within every single member of the organization. They are extremely passionate beyond a doubt, and damn good at what they do, and yet the feeling of camaraderie and family balanced with the consistency of professionalism required to nurture a genuinely fantastic company culture is beyond evident. They have faith in their people, and show up with support and an offer for development in a way that feels genuine and tangible and legitimate. As my father would say, “these people are the stuff.”
THRIVE conscientiously threw me right into the deep-end on my very first week, with a very big client, and I never felt without a partner or a lifeboat. This is a group for which the work feels not like a job, but like a driving force within each member to do and make good in the world of design and beyond. They don’t take their roles or their drive for excellence lightly, and yet it has to be acknowledged that they don’t make the work their full existence either—the business of living life outside the office is regarded just as important as the business of any given workday.
So today I want to thank my teammates and the partners of Thrive for opening their doors and their collective and individual journeys to me with open hands. While it’s only been one short and very quick month, I can already tell this was just the adventure I was looking for.
