It takes a community to raise a child! And I'm proud to have witnessed what Anganwadi teachers across India do for young children! 👏

Staying connected with the caregivers we work with, energizes and motivates me to continue the important work we do at Dost Education. Last month, I had the privilege of spending a few days with our team in #Uttarakhand, where we met with government officers, Anganwadi teachers, and families.

One morning stands out vividly in my memory…

It was just a few days after Eid, and the school for older children was on break, so many families were away. We arrived early at the Anganwadi in Bazpur, and the work was already in full swing. The teacher knew exactly which children were present, who was away, and who needed a gentle reminder to show up. The helper was out in the community, collecting children to come to the center.

As the kids began to arrive, we immediately sensed the trust, warmth, and respect in their relationships. Cheerful hellos filled the air, a 4-year-old entrusted their 10 rupee coin to the teacher for safekeeping, and soon the children gathered for circle time to sing songs and rhymes. They negotiated playtime and made deals about their favorite games. It was heart-warming to see the children so eager to spend time together, making the Anganwadi center a true haven of #happiness and #learning.

Despite the busy schedules of Anganwadi teachers — particularly during election week — we managed to speak with the teacher, Rajendar Didi for a few minutes. She emphasized the importance of understanding each child’s interests and needs to create a nurturing environment. She shared how she collects activities and stories to plan engaging days for the children, and we were thrilled to learn that Dost's phone calls are part of her resource toolkit, loved by the children!

We are humbled to have contributed to 250,000 children experiencing 'talk, care, play' at Anganwadi centers just in the last year.

Kudos to Anganwadi teachers, who give their all for our young children! Thanks to them, millions of children experience #Baatein #Sneh #Khel ❤️

Embracing play as the cornerstone of learning can transform any environment, even the confines of a conference room where adults find delight.

I was recently invited to join a day-long Play workshop facilitated by Victoria Yim alongside 20 other professionals armed with only a handful of #Lego bricks. What ensued was magical—the stiff formality of corporate attire melted away as our inner child took the stage. Through playful engagement, we not only got to know each other but also bonded at a much deeper level. We collectively experienced the impact of play - embraced friendly competition, and saw our creativity, cognitive abilities, and communication skills soar!

This experience served as a powerful reminder of our mission at Dost Education —to foster 'Baatein, Sneh, Khel' moments for children across their homes and preschools in Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. Our phonecasts and training techniques through “talk, care, play” empower parents and Anganwadi workers to create nurturing environments where children learn and thrive.

I eagerly anticipate many more playful and transformative experiences within our community. For now, we are carrying this energy into our work and thinking of more ways to embody #play in our lives and work!

Heartfelt gratitude to Victoria, Ian Chen, and the LEGO Group for orchestrating this memorable event. Thank you for inviting us to play! 🎉
