Snigdha Sur is the Founder and CEO of The Juggernaut, a media platform dedicated to providing in-depth coverage of South Asian news and culture. Born in Chhattisgarh, India, and raised in New York City, Sur has an impressive academic background, holding an MBA from Harvard University and a degree in Economics and South Asian Studies from Yale University. She also spent five months coding at Flatiron School.13

Before founding The Juggernaut in 2019, Sur worked at McKinsey & Company, where she held roles as a Business Analyst and Senior Associate, advising various media and tech companies. The Juggernaut was created out of a desire to address the lack of nuanced media representation of South Asians in Western media, which often focuses on poverty and stereotypes. The platform started as a free newsletter and has since evolved into a subscription-based service, offering original stories that center on South Asian identity and culture.234 Sur is fluent in Hindi, Bengali, and Mandarin, and she has expressed a passion for Bollywood and literature.13

Once again a reminder: if you are from a partition family, you lost your home and saw your family members killed. Immigration for us wasn’t a choice. It was forced upon us. This is why you see many Bengalis, Punjabis, and Sindhis in the diaspora

Hey — I'm referring to the folks you've interviewed. People come to America through a variety of immigration pathways. I'm also not Brahmin and you likely don't know my mother's caste from my last name. Nor do you know that I grew up poor in nyc.

Always happy to chat with you next time you report on South Asians in New York (I actually grew up in the Bronx and Queens), including socioeconomic class. Intersectionality is really important here. I went to public school and got financial aid for college and grad school. I didn't go to private school like Zohran, so could offer a different perspective

Really love reading and editing your work. Can't wait for more of it
