"Genuine curiosity, the kind that breeds innovation and discovery, is an intentional choice.

And one way to cultivate it is by asking the third question."

I'm continuously surprised by what I discover when I choose to remain curious!

I've never watched or read Game of Thrones (gasp!), but apparently, one of the characters says, "Nothing someone says before the word 'but' really counts."

I can't say I fully agree; nothing is a strong word.

But it's an interesting idea for coaching clients at a deeper level.

Pay close attention when your clients say things like:

"I love my job, but..." "My best friend is always there for me, but..." "My business is doing really well, but..." "The party was super fun, but..." "I am so excited about this promotion, but..." "That's a great suggestion, but..."

We all soften our true feelings at some point, usually because of some guilt about how we really feel or to avoid hurting others' feelings.

But (see what I did there?) it can be an interesting phrase to dig into to take your coaching deeper!
